Robert Lee Smith

Robert Lee Smith, age 90 of Geneva, passed away December 7, 2021 at the Lantern of Saybrook. He was born on August 27, 1931 in Scioto County, Ohio the son of John Thomas Smith and Mary Olive (Adkins) Smith. He was married to Deloris J. (Stapleton) Smith on July 27^th, 1962 in New Boston, Ohio. Robert served his country in the US Navy during the Korean conflict. He worked at Kennametal as an inspector and retired in 1993. He was a hard worker and mechanically inclined, he was always working on cars while most of his family were the beneficiary of his projects. He loved his family deeply and always took great joy in being with them. He was a member of Here’s Hope Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee. He is survived by his daughter, Sherry Yankie; his sons, Michael Smith and Thomas (Donna) Smith; four grandchildren, James, Joseph, Mathew, and Caitlin; six great-grandchildren, Jordan, Joey Jr., Mikayla Rose, and John Thomas “Jack”, Olivia and Lillie; sisters, Carolyn Bradley and Shelby Hagan. He is preceded in death by his wife, Deloris J. Smith; parents, John Thomas Smith and Mary Olive (Adkins) Smith; sisters, Helen Anderson, Betty Kemper, and Theda Lederer; brothers, Ken, Gary and Leroy Smith. Friends and family will be received 6-8 pm Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at Behm Family Funeral Home, 175 South Broadway in Geneva. Funeral Service will be 11 am, Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at the funeral home. Final Resting Place will be at Evergreen Cemetery where Military Honors will take place.
