Behm Family Funeral Home offer distinctive, personal, and affordable services designed to help you honor your loved one in a way that is unique to them and meaningful to you.
While many families still choose more traditional funeral services, others prefer to create new and unique experiences. Regardless of your needs, we promise to help arrange a truly meaningful celebration of your loved one’s life.
A gathering of family and friends is often referred to as a viewing or visitation. Traditionally the casket is present, either open or closed. These gatherings can be held at the funeral home, church or place of worship, or other acceptable venues allowing friends and family to come together and pay their final respects to the person who has died. It is also a time for closure, when those left behind can say goodbye.
Here are some common examples of funeral services chosen most often by the family’s we serve. These services can be held over multiple days or can be accomplished on the same day if desired. We can tailor any
of these options to meet your individual needs.
You can have funeral services at a variety of venues; most popular being at your church or place of worship, in one of our chapels or at the graveside (or mausoleum). Reception services are also becoming a popular choice for families.
The church has meant so much to your family and your community. Perhaps you were dedicated there as an infant, baptized there as a child or celebrated your marriage there surrounded by family and friends. It only makes sense to involve your church family in your final life event of a funeral.
We believe in supporting the church as much as you do. That’s why; we specialize in hosting your funeral at your local church where you’ll be surrounded by the ones you love in a place familiar and dear to your heart.
Church funerals are typically scheduled in the morning, and are followed by the graveside committal service.
Chapel Services are popular with families whose loved one was not affiliated with a church at the time of their passing, families who are located outside of our area or those who may not be able to attend a lengthy church service.
When you choose to hold a service in our chapel, it eliminates the need to convert a visitation room for a funeral (like many of the other funeral homes in our area). This dedicated room features seating for over 100 guests, the latest in audio and video equipment and a welcoming décor.
Our beautiful, inviting chapel provides the perfect setting for services of any type.
A Graveside Service can be anything from a small, casual gathering of family and close friends, to a larger grouping with a formal schedule of events. Many times, the graveside ceremony will follow a time of visitation at the funeral home, a funeral service in church or place of worship, or one of our chapels. Some families choose to have a graveside service, followed by a memorial service in the future. You may also choose to only have a service at the graveside. Family and friends would simply gather at the cemetery for the committal service of the casket.
Clergy, friends or loved ones may take an active part in the graveside ceremony. Service, poems may be read or a special song can be sung.
Many families are forgoing traditional services for more contemporary ones. A memorial service or life celebration service may be the perfect option to share memories of that special loved one. Typically, the casket is not present for these services and the service is held before or after the deceased is buried or entombed.
These services can be performed at a local restaurant, reception center, country club, hotel banquet facility, a family member’s home or even in a park. The possibilities are endless.
On and off-site reception services are becoming increasingly popular with the families we serve.
Remember your loved one with a memory table display. You can include significant items from your loved one’s life, including a bicycle, golf clubs, gardening tools, hunting and fishing gear, a musical instrument, a motorcycle helmet or jacket, knitting or sewing equipment…the possibilities are endless. Display special photos, certificates, achievement awards and other significant items in a customized memory collage.
There is no better way to remember your loved one than with a special personalized tribute. Our Life Tribute video program incorporates your family’s pictures with music into a presentation that can be played at the visitation, during the service or at the conclusion of the service. You can post the video online for family and friends around the world to see and share with generations to come.
Do you have family members in another state or overseas who are unable to attend the service? No one should have to miss their loved one’s funeral.
You are not limited to traditional funeral music during your loved one’s service. Customize the visitation or service with your loved one’s favorite tunes. We are happy to help your family compile special music selections to play during the services from a CD or iPod. We also have an organ available in our chapel for traditional music.
A Celebrant is a professional who is trained and certified to meet the needs of families during their time of loss. This expert can help your family create a personalized tribute service to celebrate your loved one’s unique life. You may choose to use a Celebrant alone or in conjunction with clergy. If you want an uplifting service that pays tribute to your loved one’s life or if you are not affiliated with a church, a Celebrant service may be the perfect option.
The bagpipe provides a solemn, powerful song, making it the ideal instrument for funerals and memorials. For hundreds of years, people far and wide have bid farewell to their dearly departed with the music of the pipes. We can help you commemorate a loved one with this noble music tribute.
Friends, relatives, church members or business associates may serve as pallbearers. If the family would prefer, we can provide some or all pallbearers for your loved one’s service. Each pallbearer will wear a special Lily or flag pin, making them easily identifiable.
We can help you honor your military member with a flag ceremony, color guard, trumpeter or even a final gun salute. We work with all branches of the military and can make all the proper arrangements easily and efficiently.
We can distribute pouches of wildflower seeds during or after the service. Because wildflowers are perpetual, they can provide an ongoing tribute to your loved one’s life. Guests can choose to plant their wildflower seeds in a garden, planter, meadow or any other special location.
We can coordinate and arrange an off-site reception at any venue of your choosing. Whether it be a restaurant, banquet center or golf club, this gives your family and friends an opportunity to gather and reminisce after your loved one’s service.
We strive to help families remember a life more ways than you can imagine. That’s why we offer earth-friendly funerals. Because it maintains the most natural form of burial, a green funeral (also known as earth-friendly or eco-friendly) is the ideal choice for those who are mindful of the environment.
Our staff specializes in an array of earth-friendly funeral services, including:
A green burial can take place in nearly any cemetery that allows eco-friendly methods of burial. Our firm offers several options that can help you ensure that your final resting place is both environmentally-friendly and honorable. Typically, cemeteries offering green burials follow these guidelines:
What a professional organization. From the very first consultation, past the phone call at the time of need all the way thru the final goodbye this group of professionals gave us their very best. Our funeral director was Stephanie She was caring, compassionate and certainly made our grief more bearable. During the initial visit with our lost loved one, Stephanie overheard a conversation about how much our parents loved Polka Music. When it was time to bring our elderly mother to say her final goodbye to our Dad, Polka Music was playing. Although grief stricken, our Mom was taping her toes an nodding her head to the beat of the Polka Music. What a great personal touch.
My grandmother passed unexpectedly in 2010, and we were out of town. Behm handled all our frantic phone calls upon being notified of her death. They told us originally it was not a good idea to see her (she passed of a heart attack, and fell face first), but upon hearing how important it was for my mother to see her, they worked tirelessly upon our arrival & called us to let us know we could come see her. They did a beautiful job on her and gave us a little bit of closure we needed.
Throughout the process of handling the cremation, burial of ashes, they were so incredibly patient & wonderful. You could not ask for a better staff than this one. Now that I'm working to get her headstone taken care of, they again have been amazing!
The loss of our Grandmother was a very hard one for our family, but Behm's truly made this process as easy as possible so we could focus on remembering our Granny & memorializing her properly. Thanks Behm's!
We had a great experience with Behm when my grandmother passed. They organized everything, made the entire process as smooth and seamless as it could be, and were incredibly thoughtful and professional.
Thank you for everything!

The prices were very good and our loved one was well taken care of and presented to all of us with caring and warmth for our goodbyes . Can’t say enough about Everyone in the Behm funeral home Family .
Everyone here at Behm made me feel blessed to have someone looking to help me and not push for more than I needed. With pre-planning and locked in pricing before my mother passed helped immensely. Thank you so much, I didn't have a clue about what i was doing and everything went so smooth and stress free it was amazing. Recommend everything about Behm Family Funeral Home.
This was my first time actually making the arrangements for a funeral. John was very calming and comforting helping us plan the service. I can’t recommend them enough. I definitely give them 6 stars out of 5. Every staff member treated us like family. They laughed with us and cried with us.
The Behm family was so friendly, compassionate and helpful at our time of loss. They walked us through everything like a friend. There aren’t enough words of gratitude to give them for all they did for us. Thank you! The McCracken Family
Behm Family Funeral Homes get six stars out of five. My dad, a 98 year-old WWII veteran, passed away on the 16th of January, 2023. The incredible owners and staff went overboard in helping take care of services and the burial that took place on the 20th of January. They took care of every detail and more. When they initially contacted Painesville City to coordinate burial in Riverside there was a problem with some paperwork from decades ago. They handled this with professionalism and maintained contact with the city and our family until the problem was solved. They also helped with other details related to the death certificate and notification of authorities, including the Social Security Administration. They helped arrange for military honors with the local team from the American Legion and VFW. It went extraordinarily smoothly and professionally, including the teamwork with the active duty Navy team that came in from out of town. The graveside service that was conducted in cold and snowy weather went smoothly.
Trevor Behm spearheaded the effort and I cannot say enough about his professionalism. Outstanding service. Thank you to the entire team.
Trevor Behm and all the family at Behm' Funeral Home were caring, professional and genuine. They helped our family throughout the process and took alot of our plate so we could focus on family.
