Jerry Dent "Bunny"

Jerry Dent “Bunny”, age 79 of Painesville Township, passed away at his home on May 10, 2024. He was born on June 5, 1944, the son of Theadore and Sadie (Wilson) Dent.
He was one of 11 children raised in Boone County, West Virginia. Jerry joined the Army and proudly served his country when he was the young age of 17 years old. He proudly served in the 101st Airborne during his Military Service. He served beside his comrades in Vietnam before his discharge from the service.
After returning home he married his sweetheart Judy Aleshire in June 1965, they together moved to Painesville, Ohio where they would become permanent residents.
For most of his life, he worked as a heat treater. He started his heat-treating career at Euclid Heat Treat and then ventured out on an independent venture with MT Heat Treat where he worked until he retired in 2007.
He enjoyed hunting, camping, and hiking. A day on the Grand River in a canoe or rowboat was where you could find him and his family on most summer days.
He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Eagles, and Moose Lodge and participated in the Color Guard for many years.
He is survived by his children, Teresa (Ed) Zuri and Jerry (Brenda) Dent; grandchildren, Samantha (Jim)Hyde, Amanda (Tommy)Gibson, Cheyenne (Mike) Clemens, Sierra (Kyle) Dent/Fournier. 11 Great Grandchildren and Sister Glada Scott.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and siblings Sisters: Carlie, Glenna, Vida, and Arcella. Brothers: Oran, Ora Kenneth, Curtis, and Keith his loving wife Judith Dent, and his great-grandson Colt Hyde.
Friends will be received on May 15, 2024, from 5-7 PM at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street in Madison, Ohio. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at 10AM at the funeral home. Final resting place will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Thompson.
