Douglas Alan Frey
May 9, 1942 ~ April 9, 2024
Douglas Alan Frey, age 81 of Madison, passed away at his home on Tuesday, April 9, 2024. Born on May 9, 1942 in Cleveland, OH he was the son of the late Dave Frey and Katherine Gerhardt.
A graduate of Madison High School Doug received a degree at Kent State University and also served in the United States Air Force. Doug was employed for 30 years for First Energy at the Perry Nuclear Power Plant where he worked as a Nuclear Mechanic.
Doug was a sentimental man who loved being around others. He kept his days busy by tinkering around his garage and doing yard work. He always was on the move. Not only was he a nuclear mechanic by trade but was an excellent car mechanic and an air plane mechanic, skills he learned in the Air Force. He could build houses and could fix just about anything. Doug loved to be out in nature and one could often find him by the lake just enjoying the waves crashing in on the shore. He was an animal lover who always had pets and would save sick or injured animals. Doug had a boisterous personality and everyone knew him around town.
He is survived by his children, Robin Frey, David Frey, Christopher Frey, Nicole Frey; his stepson, Scott Buklad; grandchildren, Morgan Frey, Dawson Frey, Brennen Frey, Evelyn Buklad, Samara Yan; siblings, Micheal Teschke and Jeane Harper-Teschke; and many loved family members. He was preceded in death by mother, Katherine Gerhardt; father, Dave Frey, and sister, Judy Skiba.
