Anthony S. Sanzotta, age 86, of Geneva, passed away Thursday, February 06, 2014. Born February 24, 1927 in Geneva, he was the son of Frances (Trumfio) & Anthony Sanzotta. He married Josephine Mazzatenta on August 26, 1950. Tony served in the US Army during WWII stationed in Germany. He received his teaching degree from Ashland University and spent his entire career in the community of Geneva that he loved. For many years he was the Geneva Junior High and High School Principal and he also served as the Athletic Director, retiring in 1991. Tony was a member of Assumption Catholic Church as well as the Geneva VFW and American Legion. A true patriot he was deeply proud of his family, his community, and his country. He is survived by his wife, Josephine Sanzotta; daughters, Fran Cervas of Geneva, Joni Romano of Liverpool, New York; Dina Rosenau of Navarre, FL, Gina Monahan of Saybrook; son, Mick (Cindy) Sanzotta of Fairfax, VA; grandchildren: Nicole and Mario Romano, Jolee Clement, Mallory and Robert Cervas, Taylor and Sam Gondek, Tony, Dominic and Emma Sanzotta, Megan and Clare Lattanze, Gale and Kate Monahan; great-granddaughter, Annie Grey Clement. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Joseph and Bruno Mallone and Jim, Dominic, and Mel Sanzotta
Friends will be received from 4-7 PM on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at the BEHM FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 175 S. Broadway, Geneva, Ohio.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM on Monday, February 10, 2014 at Assumption Catholic Church, 594 W. Main St., Geneva, Ohio. Final resting place will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Geneva.
Contributions may be made in Tony's name to the Assumption Catholic Church, the Geneva VFW or the American Legion
