Veronica C.(nee Finneran) Smith, known as “Ronnie” and “Nonnie” to many, age 91, of Chardon, passed away Monday, August 14, 2023 at her home, while with her children. She was born June 26, 1932 in Zainesville, Ohio, to Veronica (Lawler) and Paul Finneran. She married Robert F. Smith in Mentor, April 4, 1994.

Veronica was an educator for over 30 years, locally, at Homer Nash Kimball, teaching 1st and 3rd grades. She enjoyed sewing—it was her favorite thing of all time! Also quilting…cross-stitch, and needlepoint crafts. One of her passions was genealogy, having received a degree from Brigham Young University on the subject. Veronica loved playing card games and was always in a Bridge or Euchre group. She was also pretty adventuresome, having zip-lined at 80!

She is survived by her children, Jenny Rowe, Brian Rowe, Elaine Smith Perry; daughter-in-law, Julie Rowe; grandchildren, Ethan Sherman Alshuler, Emily (Nicholas) Rowe Daniels, Steven Andrew Rowe, Alexander Richard Rowe, Joanna Perry, Samantha Perry; great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Nora, and Brodie Daniels; and brother, Paul J. (Millie) Finneran.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; son, Steven Allen Rowe; and parents, Veronica and Paul.

Friends will be received Saturday, August 19, 2023, 10am – 12pm, at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St., Madison. A Funeral Service will be held at 12pm. Final resting place will be Alexander Harper Cemetery.
