Mildred L. Dennis, age 92, of Perry, passed away Sunday, January 9, 2022 at David Simpson Hospice House in Cleveland. She was born July 16, 1929 in Dolson, IL to Thelma (Ohm) and Lucian Murphy. She married James S. Dennis on February 3, 1952.

Mildred was a graduate of Saint Louis Oklahoma High School and East Central State University in Ada, Oklahoma and was recognized in “Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities” in 1950.  Recognized as Teacher of the Year at Auburn and #1 Teacher at Riverside.

She was also a Columnist for “Telegraph News Herald” writing “This Week with Mildred” for over 20 years.  She was a member and Certified Lay Speaker at Perry United Methodist Church, Ohio and Lake County Retired Teachers Association, and a former Member of Delta Kappa Gamma. She was a volunteer for the Perry Reads Program, and Lake County East Hospital.

She leaves behind a son; Richard (Holly) Dennis; daughter, Donna J. Skufca; and sister, June Keene. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James; parents; son, John D. Dennis; son-in-law, Ron Skufca.

The family will receive friends 10 am to 12 Noon, Saturday, July 16, 2022 at Perry United Methodist Church with a Service immediately following at 12 Noon.  Contributions may be made to Perry United Methodist Church Scholarship Fund 3875 Main St, Perry, OH 44081 or the Mildred Dennis Scholarship Fund at Auburn Career Center, 8140 Auburn Rd, Concord, OH 44077.
