Karen Cannady, age 75, of Madison, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 21, 1947 in Cleveland to Ralph and Catherine (Mizisin) Kutina. She married Jerry Cannady in Cleveland, in 1967.

Karen worked as head of circulation at the Madison Library for 37 years. She loved reading, spending time with her family and friends from the library, enjoyed going for nature walks, scrapbooking, baking, gardening and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry; Son, Brian (Tanya) Cannady; daughters, Lisa (Dave Carlo) Cannady, Shannon (Chris) Doty; grandchildren, Cayla, Kendra, Caden, Cameron, Brianna; and sister, Dorothy Williams; and many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends and Family will be received October 8th from 2-4 at the Madison Public Library, 6111 Middle Ridge Road, Madison Ohio 44057.

One night I dreamed a dream. As I was walking along the beach with my Lord. Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life. For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand, One belonging to me and one to my Lord. After the last scene of my life flashed before me, I looked back at the footprints in the sand. I noticed that at many times along the path of my life, especially at the very lowest and saddest times, there was only one set of footprints. This really troubled me, so I asked the Lord about it. “Lord, you said once I decided to follow you, You’d walk with me all the way. But I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life, there was only one set of footprints. I don’t understand why, when I needed You the most, You would leave me.” The LORD replied: “My precious child, I love you and will never leave you Never, ever, during your trials and suffering. When you saw only one set of footprints, It was then that I carried you.”
