David Nicholas Cheich, age 49, of Geneva, passed away Monday, May 8, 2023 at Pine Grove Nursing Home, after a sudden illness. He was born July 19, 1973 in Willoughby, Ohio, to Mary (Lonsway) and Nicholas Cheich.
David was very outgoing, almost to a fault. He had a way of starting conversations with perfect strangers, and, someway, somehow, found they knew somebody in common, maybe 8 times removed! Elvis was The King, and one of David’s fondest memories was visiting Graceland with his parents. He liked the drums and was a serious guitar player. He loved singing, especially “Love Me Tender” to his aunts. He had a musical range toward AC/DC and Metallica. David also loved Arnold Schwarzenegger, wrestling and body building. He enjoyed culinary arts and the Food Network, taking notes while watching, to give to the dietary department. An interesting thing about David—he had ideas which needed to be shared with most of our modern presidents, but more importantly, Terry Francona, Manager of the Cleveland Guardians, by writing them letters and giving them advice. David loved family get togethers and visiting with his cousins, aunts and uncles.
David is survived by his parents, Mary and Nicholas; brothers, Russ Cheich, Michael (Emily) Cheich; niece Eleanor; nephews, Isaiah, and Samuel. He is preceeded in death by his grandparents, Flora and Gene Lonsway, and Elsa and Nick Cheich; and uncle, Curtis Lonsway.
Friends will be received 2-4pm on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street in Madison, with a Service immediately following at 4pm. In lieu of flowers contributions to NAMI of Lake County (National Alliance on Mental Illness) are appreciated. Online obituary and condolences may be viewed at www.behmfuneral.com
