July 19, 1973 ~ May 8, 2023

David Nicholas Cheich, age 49, of Geneva, passed away Monday, May 8, 2023 at Pine Grove Nursing Home, after a sudden illness. He was born July 19, 1973 in Willoughby, Ohio, to Mary (Lonsway) and Nicholas Cheich. David was very outgoing, almost to a fault. He had a way of starting conversations with perfect strangers, and, someway, somehow, found they knew somebody in common, maybe 8 times removed! Elvis was The King, and one of David’s fondest memories was visiting Graceland with his parents. He liked the drums and was a serious guitar player. He loved singing, especially “Love Me Tender” to his aunts. He had a musical range toward AC/DC and Metallica. David also loved Arnold Schwarzenegger, wrestling and body building. He enjoyed culinary arts and the Food Network, taking notes while watching, to give to the dietary department. An interesting thing about David—he had ideas which needed to be shared with most of our modern presidents, but more importantly, Terry Francona, Manager of the Cleveland Guardians, by writing them letters and giving them advice. David loved family get togethers and visiting with his cousins, aunts and uncles. David is survived by his parents, Mary and Nicholas; brothers, Russ Cheich, Michael (Emily) Cheich; niece Eleanor; nephews, Isaiah, and Samuel. He is preceeded in death by his grandparents, Flora and Gene Lonsway, and Elsa and Nick Cheich; and uncle, Curtis Lonsway. Friends will be received 2-4pm on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street in Madison, with a Service immediately following at 4pm. In lieu of flowers contributions to NAMI of Lake County (National Alliance on Mental Illness) are appreciated. Online obituary and condolences may be viewed at www.behmfuneral.com

Guestbook

  1. The Cheich family has our prayers! We love you all and are heartbroken for your loss.

  2. All of us will miss David a great deal. We will miss the family coming in to take him for outings and guitar lessons. Mostly I will miss David in my Bible Study classes. He loved the Lord with all his heart and was saved. He is enjoying the Glories of Heaven now!

  3. My deepest sympathy and prayers go towards this family. David was a man with a gold and caring heart. He will be missed by so so many. Heaven has gained such a beautiful angel.

  4. I had the honor several years ago of taking care of David as his nurse and as his friend. He recently had called me at work to talk to me and one of the residents. He was a special person. I have many good memories of him. He was always able to make me laugh. And I remember how much he loved his Mom and Dad and family. Mary, Nick, and family, I am so sorry for your loss. I will miss David very much.

  5. Mary and Nicholas I am very sad to hear about the passing of David. David taught me so much during the time I known him. David and I would always make time to play cards he would never forget to play his guitar and show me all the cool things he was learning. Everytime he was going out for lunch he always would bring me back chips and salsa . David truly made a huge impact on me. I am so sorry for the loss of David. I will keep the family in my thoughts and prayers.
