William "Steve" Cantrell

Steve Cantrell, age 71 of Jefferson, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2025 at his home. He was born April 3, 1953 in Jolo, WV the son of Alexander and Reithia (York) Cantrell.

Steve lived a full life of love and joy. He loved spending time with family, and his best friend Baby Dog. One of his greatest joys was getting down on the floor with the grandkids. He always had a “Ditty” to sing or a joke to tell. He loved anything that involved being outdoors and he could always find time to cook you a hot meal. Steve loved to tell a good story. He will be greatly missed by all who had the chance to know and love him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Diane Cantrell; his sons, Daniel Cantrell and Anthony (Laurie) Cantrell; Juston (Seader) Cantrell, Jeremy (Chelsea) Cantrell, Cody (Tyler) Cantrell, 11 grandchildren; siblings, Jerry (Anna) Cantrell, Terry Cantrell, Jennifer Sue (Randy Morris) Cantrell and loving extended family of cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and father Alexander and Reithia (York) Cantrell; brother, Donald Roger Cantrell, brother, Gary Cantrell; son Destry Cantrell.

Friends will be received from 5-7 pm on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street in Madison. A Celebration of Steve’s life will begin at 7 pm at the funeral home.
