Virginia “Ginny” Loria, a beloved matriarch and cherished friend, peacefully departed this life on April 15, 2026, at the age of 104. She was born on August 18, 1921, in Lancaster, Ohio, and lived 75 years in her lovely Perry, Ohio home, where she cultivated a life rich in love, laughter, and resilience.

Virginia dedicated her life to her family as a devoted homemaker. Known for her exceptional gardening skills and culinary talents, she nurtured not only her plants but also her loved ones with the most delicious meals, creating a warm and inviting home for all who entered. Her positivity was infectious; she faced hardships and health challenges with grace, never once allowing them to dampen her spirit. Virginia was a beacon of strength, wisdom, and comfort, often serving as the family’s “therapist,” dispensing advice and guidance with an open heart.

She took immense pride in her children, Judy (Craig) Erskine, Tanya Payne, and Anthony “Tony” Loria, as well as her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great granddaughter, whom she adored. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony; parents, Wilbur and Mazie Elder; sisters, Rema and GiGi. Virginia’s dedication to her family was unwavering; her love knew no bounds, and her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A loving soul who never worried about age, Virginia approached each day with a youthful spirit and an open mind. Her remarkable ability to find joy in every moment will forever be remembered by those she loved.

Funeral services and ceremonies to celebrate her life were private.
Rest in peace, dear Virginia. Your light will forever shine in our hearts.

  1. My dear aunt Ginny was the best aunt ever. She was a great listener and over the years provided us with so much wisdom and advice. She truly was the family counselor without the official degree. Whenever you asked for her opinion you could be sure it was an honest answer. She loved desserts and candy. I always enjoyed making her something sweet when I would come out to visit her. Before I would leave I would always ask her what she wanted me to make for her on my next visit and she would always say “surprise me”! I thanked God so many times that you were in our family. You were like a second mother. We will miss you so much, but we know you are finally at peace.

  2. Aunt GINNY was my favorite aunt, she was my second mother. I am so happy that we all lived on those 5 acres together. Yes she was a great therapist and always gave you her honest answer. I will always remember how hard her and my mom worked the entire summer canning every fruit and vegetable that was grown in the gardens. It was fun when we had lots of last minute dinners together outside on the picnic tables. Aunt Ginny’s house seemed to be the party house, especially with her birthday being August 18 and my mom‘s being August 16. It was always fun when our relatives from Michigan came and we had big picnics in the yards then also. Most Sundays at 5 o’clock is when I would call her for our weekly conversation. I will miss her very very much, but I am happy she is resting in peace.
