Urban A. Reed

Urban A. Reed, 95, of Austinburg, OH, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family August 11, 2017. He was born July 11, 1922 in Emporium, PA to Roland and Ruth Reed. Urban was a U.S. Army veteran who served as a staff sergeant and sharp shooter in the European Theater in the Battle of the Bulge under General George Patton. He worked most of his life as a bricklayer in Lake and Ashtabula counties and was a member of Bricklayer's Union Local #42 Ashtabula. He was also a volunteer firefighter for Trumbull Twp. and an avid fisherman and hunter who also enjoyed farming. He was a lifetime member of V.F.W. #6846 Geneva and a former member of Harpersfield Methodist Church. Urban was a proud Steelers fan. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Theresa J.; sons Russell L. (Laura) Chapin, Roland G. (Kari) Reed; daughters Pamela A. Bassoe and Gina M. (John) Drenik; 10 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; 3 brothers and 4 sisters. He was preceded in death by 5 brothers and 2 sisters. A memorial service will be Friday, August 18, 2017 at 6 pm at Bethel Bible Church, 877 E. Beech St., Jefferson, OH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Reed Farm Reunion, C/O North West Bank (Emporium Branch), 2 East 4th St. Emporium, PA 15834.
