Thomas Anthony Perko
January 26, 1961 ~ November 15, 2019
Thomas Anthony Perko, age 58, passed away unexpectedly on November 15, 2019 after battling cancer. He was born on January 26, 1961 and grew up in Southern Ohio in the small town of Brookside, across the river from Wheeling, WV. He became a Junior Firefighter at Brookside Volunteer Fire Department in high school. After graduation, he became a firefighter/EMT, then shortly after, a paramedic. During his career, he moved to Northeast Ohio and he became a fire instructor, fire inspector, and fire investigator. He has worked in industrial fire and safety, and worked as a safety manager at Ken Forging in Jefferson.
Tom devoted his time and energy as a firefighter for the past 41 years in the communities where he lived. He was the proud father of two daughters, and passed to them his love of music and percussion.
Tom is survived by his children, Christine and Erika Perko; their mother Sharon Perko; and sisters Theresa (Delbert) Perko and Diane (Scott) Bair. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Dolly.
Friends will be received 4-8 p.m. Thursday, November 21, 2019 at Behm Family Funeral Home, 175 South Broadway, Geneva, OH. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11 a.m. Friday, November 22, 2019 at Assumption Catholic Church, 594 W Main St, Geneva, OH. Commital service will take place on Saturday November 23, 2019 at 12 noon at Holly Memorial Gardens, 73360 Pleasant Grove, Colerain, OH. Family suggests contributions can be made to one of his favorite things, Harpersfield Volunteer Fire Department 5516 Cork Cold Springs Rd. Geneva, OH 44041.
