February 27, 1947 ~ August 9, 2024

Shela Karen Boyer (Underwood), age 77, of Madison, Ohio, went to be with her lord and savior on August 9, 2024 at the David Simpson Hospice of the Western Reserve in Cleveland, Ohio. She was born on February 27, 1947 in Farmers Valley, PA. She graduated from Madison Highschool. She was a secretary at Calhio Chemicals in Perry, a lead plant secretary at Euclid Chemical in Madison, a Christian school elementary teacher at Baptist Temple Christian Academy in Painesville, and she co-owned Guv’s Family Restaurant in Fairport Harbor, Ohio with her family. Shela was married to the love of her life, Daniel Boyer of Madison, for 51 years. She had one daughter, Carrie (Jeff) House of Mentor on the Lake, OH; nephews, David (Michele) Underwood and Kenneth (Evelyn) Underwood of Maryland, and Jeremy (Jennifer) Spring of Texas. She had the most beautiful smile and kindest heart. She was a member of Country Baptist Church in Mentor, OH. Shela was preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Vieva; brother, Vance Underwood; sister-in-law, Pearl Underwood; sister, Shirley Underwood; nephew, Jesse Spring; and two babies that she finally gets to hold for the first time in Heaven. She was the most wonderful wife and mother anyone could ever be blessed with by God. She suffered for so many years with debilitating arthritis, heart, lung and kidney issues. But Shela never complained and always put others before herself. The family would like to thank the David Simpson Hospice of the Western Reserve for their wonderful, compassionate care over the last few weeks and especially her sweet nurse, Sherron, who we will never forget and be forever grateful. Family and friends will be received from 10am to 12pm Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street in Madison. A funeral service will follow immediately at 12 noon in the funeral home. Reverend Ed Simmons, Jr. and Reverend Jim Henderson of Country Baptist Church will officiate her Going Home Celebration. Burial will take place at Fairview Memorial Park in Madison Village. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages contributions to the David Simpson Hospice of the Western Reserve, P.O. Box 72101, Cleveland, OH 44192; or Country Baptist Church at 9054 Lakeshore Blvd., Mentor, OH 44060. Online Obituary and guestbook at www.behmfuneral.com
