Shawn R. Freeman
March 4, 1961 ~ June 14, 2017
Shawn R. Freeman, age 56, recently of Madison Township, passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 in Cleveland, Ohio. He was born April 4, 1961 in Painesville, Ohio to Raymond Hugh Freeman and Carol J. Smegal [Freeman].
Shawn loved his family and indulged in often spoiling his 'little girl.' He was handy in his work in all varieties of general maintenance. He could fix anything but a broken heart, as he often joked. Shawn was passionate about classic cars and classic rock.
He will be deeply missed by his mother, Carol Smegal of Ashtabula; daughter, Shonna (Micah) Manes of Painesville; son, Kyle (Bobbie Jo) Freeman of Painesville; sister, Danielle Freeman of Madison; brother, Vance Freeman of Hastings, MI; former wife, Terry Lynn Freeman of Painesville; grandchildren, Camron, Mason, McKenzie, Taylor, and MJ; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends through the years. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Hugh Freeman.
A Celebration of Shawn's Life will be held beginning at 2:00 PM August 12, 2017 at the home of his sister, Danielle Freeman, 7748 Middle Ridge Road, Madison, OH. Friends are invited to attend anytime throughout the evening.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve. The family wishes to thank all of the staff at University Hospital in Cleveland and Heather Hill Hospital & Health in Chardon for the kind and attentive care.

I am sorry to hear this bit of news. Shawn lived across the street from me on Safford St. His Dad Ray was a fun guy, and he too was handy with a wrench, and loved car's and motorcycles. No wonder Shawn followed the same passion. Shawn was a spunky little guy to be sure. But in the end, he seems to have turned out fine. Safe journey Shawn. Glad to have shared some history with you and your folks.
So sorry to hear this news, Vance. My condolences to you my friend

Danielle, so sorry for the loss of your brother. Prayers of comfort for the entire family.
Carol, Vance, Danielle, I am so sorry for your loss. I only remember meeting Shawn once at your grandpa Freeman's calling hours. I wonder about all of you and the rest of the family, I don't know where they all have landed. Love to all of you and very heartfelt sympathy, Your cousin, Dawn (Blasel) Bechtel, Bette's Daughter, Andover.
I wanted to express my heartfelt condolences to all of Shawn's family. There's such a sense of helplessness when someone we love dies. I'd like to share some scriptural thoughts that really helps me. Prayer is so valuable at this time but it's not that prayer simply makes us feel better. 2 Cor.4:7 says that God can give us, “… power beyond what is normal “, to go from one day to the next. This does not mean that we no longer cry or that we forget, but it means we recover. The reason we recover is because of our hope. Jesus Christ talked about our hope in John 5:28, “… all those in the memorial tomb will hear his voice and come out “. Jesus was referring to the resurrection, this is our amazing hope that helps us recover and gives us power to go on. 2 Cor. 1:3 describes our Creator as, “… the God of all comfort “. One way that God comforts us is by moving people who care about us to give us words of encouragement that we need to hear. May the God of comfort (Ps.83:18) be your comfort now during this time of sorrow.
Shawn was one of the best people I have ever meet.Gonna miss you dude
