Sandra Jean Rice

Sandra passed away June 18, 2012 in Madison; she was born on August 24, 1943 to James and Ethel Buchanan. She graduated from Willoughby South High School and worked at Bailey Meter and Northeast Ohio General Hospital during her lifetime. She married Larry Rice of Newbury, OH on February 1, 1964 and cherished every minute of their time together until his passing in 2002. Sandra enjoyed spending time with her family and being part of each one of their life's journey that has lead them to becoming the individuals they are today. She was always willing to help family and others in need. She had a soft spot for stray cats and cared for many throughout her lifetime. She was a gifted seamstress and always marked Elvis Presleys' death with wine and music. For the past several years she battled breast cancer and was proud to tell all she was cancer free. She now joins those she loved and missed dearly every day, her husband, Larry Rice, parents, James and Ethel Buchanan, in-laws, Bud and Marie Rice, sister , Linda Butler, brother, James Buchanan, sister-in-laws, Maryann Buchanan and Margie Hillis, brother- in-law, Tom Hillis and nephew, Steven Rice. She is survived by her daughter, Kim (Gary) Granger of Madison; son, Larry (Beth) Rice of Madison; grandchildren, Brandon, Tyler, Brittannia, Heather and Allison; brother-in-laws, Mickey (Susan) Rice, Rex Rice and Walt Butler and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She also leaves behind her much loved canine companion, Gypsy. Visitation will be from 3-5 pm. and 7-9 pm. Friday June 22, 2012 at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St. Madison, OH. Services will be held at 10 am Saturday June 23, 2012 at the funeral home. Final Resting Place will be at Fairview Cemetery in Madison.
