Sam Robertson
April 11, 1979 ~ July 13, 2019
Sam Robertson, age 40, of Geneva, Ohio, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2019 at home. He was born April 11, 1979 in Geneva, Ohio to Marlene (Malcolm) and William Lowry Robertson. He graduated Geneva High School in 1997, and attended Lakeland Community College. Sam wore many hats and worked in many places including Honeywell and later Avery Dennison.
Sam loved music, and wherever he drove, he shared that love with the world as the loud bass of his car audio rocked the ground. He had the distinction of being the only human his cat, Kara, could tolerate, and he was truly wonderful with animals. Sam watched anime, and enjoyed comedy. In board games, he could always find a loophole in the rules, and he excelled at strategy. In Catan, he kept his plans to himself, and you didn’t know he was winning until he had won. With a wild spirit, Sam grew up exploring the woods and telling stories around a bonfire. Most of all, he constructed his world with family. He teased them, made them laugh, protected them, and his son, Aiden, stood at the center of his universe.
He is survived and cherished by his parents, William “Larry” and Marlene Robertson; his son, Aiden Robertson; his sister, Kesha (Scott) Szeljack; the mother of his son, Meagan Fallon; aunts and uncles, Maritza and Larry Osborne, Betty Robinson, Carolyn Lockard, Rebecca Norman, Buddy Smith; cousins, Becky Osborne, Greg Osborne, A.P. (Melody) Robinson, Carla (Lee) McGraw, Teresa Weston, Lisa Kenney, Rhonda McClanahan, Tonda Canterbury, Harley Canterbury; and so many more friends and extended family. In the light of Heaven, Sam will be greeted by his maternal grandparents, Archie and Zoraida Malcolm; his paternal grandparents, Lyda and Vernon Robertson; his uncles, Henry Robinson, A.P. Robinson; his aunt, Ollie Smith; his cousin, Greg Smith; and his beloved friend, Barbara Turkovic. It is likely that together they are playing Canasta, and Aunt Ollie is, once again, his partner.
Following Sam's wishes, there will be no services. However, in his memory, you are encouraged to laugh often and hold your family close. After all, Sam treasured his family above all else.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Aiden Robertson’s custodial account at any Huntington Bank location.
The Behm Family Funeral Home, 175 S. Broadway, Geneva, OH 44041 is honored to serve Sam Robertson and his family.
Our hearts ache for you both Marlene and Larry. I enjoyed my time with Sam in the classroom. You raised a fine person. Howard and Gayle and Britain Anderson
I am so sorry to hear of Sam's passing. My name is Larry Wade. I am Adam's father, who is married to Kimberly. I believe I met Sam once and I met Marlene at Kimberly and Adam's wedding, and I also think the world of Kesha. Nothing I can say can ease the pain right now, but as a parent I can tell you I understand something of the hurt. There will be others who will be there for you. Reach out. May the Lord watch over you.
This is such a beautiful tribute. I know Sam touched many lives in his much too short time on Earth. I have been, and will continue, to pray for comfort and peace. Sending all of my love and deepest condolences! Love, Ashley
Many memories of kickball with Sam and all of us neighborhood kids. He never spoke much in school years but i can still hear his laugh ! It was one of a kind. May god wrap his arms around you at this time ! I want to stop over to give you quiet hugs but maybe down the road !
I am so sorry to hear of Sam's passing. I have fond memories of him during my time working at Spire. He brightened my morning with his kindness and laughs that we shared. I am in total shock. My thoughts are with you. I will never forget the time that I shared with him. With deepest sympathy, Michelle Smith
