S Ray Bevins

S. Ray Bevins, age 79 of Perry, passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2014. Born February 12, 1935 in Kanawha, WV, he was the son of Ruby Ellen (Frazier) & Claude Lee Bevins. He married Elmadine Ford on February 9, 1957 in Angola, IN.
Ray served in the U.S. Navy. He worked as a foreman for SIFCO in Cleveland, retiring in 2000. He then worked for North Perry Village. Ray was a member of Perry First Baptist Church. He loved collecting and constructing model planes and cars. Involved with his childrens' sports, he coached their softball, baseball & football teams. His Navy background led to a passion for the water and an interest in boats. Ray enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians and Browns.
He is survived by his wife, Elmadine Bevins of Perry; children, Patricia (Glenn) Briley of CO, Barry (Carlyn) Bevins of NC, Timothy (Christine) Bevins of Perry, Joyce (Joe) Birch of Lyndhurst; grandchildren, Keith (Dana), Christopher, Jennifer, Zackery, Ryan, Victoria, Kevin, Alizabeth; great-grandchildren, Kaden & Dannica; brother, Raymond (Joyce) Bevins of TX. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant great-granddaughter, Rileigh; brother, Skippy & sister, Joy.
Friends will be received 5-8 PM, Monday, October 27, 2014 at THE BEHM FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 26 River Street, Madison, OH. Additional visitation will be held 10-11 AM, Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at Perry First Baptist Church, 3918 Main St., Perry, OH with a service following at 11:00 AM. Final resting place will be at Perry Cemetery in Perry.
