Ruth Bates

Ruth Alberta (Lanning) (Lane) Bates, 82, of Spencer, IN passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, June 6, 2017. Alberta was born in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, on September 15, 1934, to Samuel Clair and Mildred (Brown) Henderson. Alberta loved baking, cooking, cake decorating and craft-making, along with painting. She is survived by her husband, Don Bates (Spencer); siblings, Twila Snyder and Vera Lytle; children, Gale (Connie) Lanning Jr., Virgil (Delores) Lanning, Chuck Lanning, Steve (Cindy) Lanning, Fred (Christine) Lanning and Ruth (Rick) Ringenbach; stepchildren, Becky (Joe) Conniff, Neal (Teresa) Bates and Danielle (Tony) Colecchi; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Gale Lanning; second husband, Bob Lane; brother, Ray Henderson; sister, Janice Henderson; and grandson, Jacob Lanning.
