Rudolph W. Kurtzhals, age 91 of Madison, passed away Thursday, October 9, 2014. Born August 28, 1923 in Madison, he was the son of Alvina (Wherman) & Martin L. Kurtzhals. He married Ruth Lampson in Austinburg, Ohio.
Rudolph served in European Theatre Operations, 36th Inf. Division U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 8548 and Jay Wilson Post 112, Madison and the Ex-POW Barbed Wire Buckeyes Chapter, Parma, Ohio. Rudolph holds a Regimental Citation, Combat Infantryman's Badge, 1Bronze Star, 2 Purple Hearts w/Oak Leaf Clusters, POW Medal. He had been a Madison resident since February 14, 1952 moving from Painesville and Jefferson.
He is survived by his daughters, Cynthia Adele Kurtzhals of Fitchburg, MA, April Ann Davidson of Thompson; sons, Michael James Kurtzhals of Wichita Falls, TX, Quentin Lloyd (Donna) Kurtzhals of Carlisle, OH; grandchildren, Sheldon, Christopher, Amanda, Emily, Hannah, Leah, Ben; great-grandchildren, Jayden, Kenny, Madelyn, Riley, Emma & Ian. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; parents; sisters, Amanda H.C. Kurtzhals, Emma Hendrickson, Elizabeth Fenlason & Bertha Ann Wagner; brothers, Edward, Henry, Martin & Otto Kurtzhals.
Friends will be received 4-8 PM, Monday, October 13, 2014, at THE BEHM FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 26 River Street, Madison, OH 44057. Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 14, 2014, at the funeral home. Final resting place will be at Fairview Cemetery in Madison.
