GENEVA- Rubie Esther Boomhower, 90, of Geneva, passed away peacefully, Monday, May 2, 2016 at Geneva Village Retirement Home. She was born November 17, 1925, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of the late John and Julianna (Suszter) Bodisch, and had lived most of her life in the area. She graduated from Geneva High School Class of 1942. Rubie worked at Krohn's Dept. Store in Geneva, Gary Allen Garment Factory, and then retired from the Ashtabula County Courthouse. Rubie married the love of her life G. Wilson Boomhower on August 16, 1947, at Assumption Church in Geneva, where she was also active with the Altar and Rosary Society and the Ladies Club. She enjoyed reading, needlework and crafts, gardening, feeding her birds and chasing squirrels, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and getting together for family gatherings. Mrs. Boomhower is survived by her sons, G. Wilson (Corinne) Boomhower of Geneva, and Mark (Wendy) Boomhower of Indiana; daughters, Mary C. (Jon) Bertholf of Columbus, Monica A. (Patrick) Arlet and Margaret C. Boomhower both of Erie; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren with two more on the way; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Rubie was preceded in death by her husband G. Wilson Boomhower in 2005; son, Lieutenant Christopher Boomhower; brothers, John, Louis and Arpod Bodisch; sisters, Mary Daniels and Ethel Tereba; and her parents. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday,, May 9, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Assumption Catholic Church, 594 W. Main St., Geneva, with Father Robert Lanterman officiating. She will be laid to rest with her husband at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Geneva. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, May 8, 2016 from 2:00-5:00 PM at The Behm Family Funeral Home, 175 S. Broadway, Geneva. Memorial contributions in Rubie's name may be given to Assumption Church , Church Renovation Fund, 594 W.
