Roy E. Perry, age 91, of Mentor on the Lake, passed away Monday, October 16, 2023 at the Lantern of Madison. He was born September 21, 1932 in Fort Blackmore, VA the son of Carl and Maude (Summey) Perry. A proud Veteran of the US Army, Roy served during the Korean conflict. He worked as a Machinist from Addressograph Multigraph after 25 years. Roy then retired as a custodian for the Mentor School System. He is survived by his wife, Marguerite (Pelow-Cork) Perry; children, Roger and Windel Roy Perry, Sandra (Andy) Kiss, Jackie Smith and Chris (Michelle) Cork; grandchildren, Stacie (Bob) Saban, Daniel Perry, Shannon Perry (Nikki Vencelov), Robin Jackson, Frank (Allison) and Matt Szypta, Mandy (Josh) McDaniel, Jolene (Ken) Roberts, Trisha (Zach) Broyles; great grandchildren, Cali, Andre, Miley, Maddy Jackson, Bryson Saban, Dakota, Deven, Dylan and Neveah  McDaniel; Taylor and Bailey Roberts, Chase and Emmelyn Broyles, Jennifer, Katarina and Zack Cork, great-great grandson, Luke O’Brien; siblings, Lester, Scottie, Nina, and James Perry. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Joann; brothers, Billie, and John; daughters in law, Sandra and Jody. Friends will be received 5-8 pm on Saturday, October 21st at Gate City Funeral Home, 136 Beach Street in Gate City, Virginia. Graveside Service will be at 1 pm on Sunday, October 22nd at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Behm Family Funeral Home of Madison is assisting the family at this time with local arrangements.
