Lt. Col. Robert L. Boren, 75, Painesville, Ohio passed away Saturday, December 27, 2008 at Lake West Hospital. Born August 26, 1933 in Girard, Ohio to Ethel Francis (Yates) and Harry Thomas Boren Worked as an Optician and Store Manager at Cole Optical and Union Eye Care. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a member of the Civil Air Patrol, the Auxiliary of the United States Air Force, where he rose to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. During his time in the Civil Air Patrol, Bob served as Commander of Squad 304 and Group Commander of Group IV, along with many other staff positions, including the position of Inspector General for Groups IV and V. For three consecutive years, Lt. Col. Boren also served on the Staff of the Rocky Mountain Region Staff College, which is held each year at the United States Air Force Academy. Many awards he received in the Civil Air Patrol include the Bronze medal of valor, Meritorious Service (with two clusters) Life Saving Award and the Unit Citation. Survived by his Wife , the former Ilse Papenhausen whom he married on May 20, 1972 in Mansfield, Ohio; 2 Sisters, Helen Archambaugh and Carol Kerr, both of Williamsburg, VA. Preceded in death by his Parents; Brother Eugene; 2 Sisters, Mildred Ruth Boren and Louise Pansy Long Friends will be received 6-8:00 PM Tuesday December 30, 2008 at The Behm Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, 26 River Street, Madison, OH Funeral Services will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday December 31, 2008 at the Faith Baptist Church, 3003 Narrows Road, Perry, Ohio, with Pastor James H. Lane officiating. Final Resting Place will be at Perry Cemetery
