Robert F. Houston, age 80, of Madison, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at home.
He was born July 29, 1927 in Middletown, New York to Stella Mae (Smith) & Francis Carroll Houston and married Burnita Sample in Madison on 10/9/1999
He retired in 1983 as the Supervisor of the Powerhouse with the New York Department of Corrections in Attica, New York.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was instrumental in turning Sampson Naval Training Center into a museum. He was a Navy veteran of both World War II and the Korean War. Was a member of the Masonic lodge in Attica, New York.
He is survived by Wife, Burnita Houston of Madison; 3 Daughters, Kathryn (Jeffery) Gephart of Waterloo, NY, Carol Lynn (Marshall) Atkinson of Alabama, NY, Patricia (Thomas)Matthews of Wapakoneta, OH (formerly of Perry, NY); 7 Grandchildren, Jennifer Yancey, Jeffery Gephart, Cathi Gephart, Cara Greene, Robert Greene, Albert Atkinson, Bethany Matthews; 2 Great-Grandchildren, Olivia Mae & Joseph John Yancey; 2 Brothers, Richard (Rosa) Houston of Elmira, NY and Franklin Houston of Haddonfield, NJ.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia (Burch) Houston; 2 Sons, Robert Franklin Houston and Richard Leigh Houston
Friends will be received 2-4:00 p.m., Friday, April 11, 2008 at the Behm Family Funeral Home & Crematory, 26 River Street, Madison, Ohio.
Services will be at 4:00 p.m., Friday, April 11, 2008 at the funeral home. The Rev. William Alvey will officiate.
Final Resting Place will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira, New York where graveside services are pending.
