Robert Curry

Robert Francis Curry, 80, passed away Monday, August 17. He was born January 11, 1929, to Marie (Hund) and Michael Curry in Euclid, Ohio. He grew up in Euclid with siblings Paul, Edward and Dorothy (deceased) and Mary (Richard) Ramelot, Seal Beach, California. He attended Holy Cross Elementary School and Shore High School. Upon graduation in 1946, Mr. Curry joined the United States Marine Corps and served until spring 1948. He then enrolled at Ohio University, class of 1952, where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. There he met his beloved wife, Norma Jean (DeJoy) of Willoughby. After graduation, the couple married and moved to Cleveland. Mr. Curry worked and attended night school at John Marshall College of Law, earning his degree in August 1954. After clerking and working for local firms, he opened his own law office in Geneva in 1957. He invited Gary Pasqualone to join him in 1975 and practiced law with the Curry & Pasqualone firm he founded until his retirement in 1991. He was active in his community, as a 30-plus year member of Geneva Rotary, serving as president from 1970-72; a board member and past chairman of the board of Geneva Memorial Hospital; and he served as a chairman of the restoration committee for Assumption Church, to name just a few of his interests. He was honored by Geneva Rotary as a Paul Harris Fellow for his years of dedicated service to the organization. An athlete and sports enthusiast all his life, Mr. Curry was an avid golfer and longtime member of Madison Country Club, and shared a sailboat and many happy years racing their Tartan 27 with dear friend Jack O?Dell (deceased) at Mentor Harbor Yacht Club. Since 1999, Mr. and Mrs. Curry have spent their summers in Geneva, then Madison, and winters in Clearwater, Florida, where he was an active member of Cove Cay Country Club.
Mr. Curry is survived by his devoted wife, Norma, and loving children Kathleen Mahar, Madison; Robert M. Curry (Donna), Dayton; and Penny (Dick) Hoback of St. George, UT. He also was cherished by his grandsons, Chris Mahar and Rob, David and Michael Curry, as well as countless wonderful friends and relatives in Ohio and Florida. His family extends their gratitude to the compassionate staff of Hospice of the Western Reserve who so caringly attended him in his final months.
Calling hours will be on Friday, August 21, at 2-4:00 pm & 7-9:00 pm at Behm Funeral Home & Crematory, 175 South Broadway, Geneva, Ohio . The funeral will take place at St. Cyprian Church on Middle Ridge Rd., Perry, Ohio, at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 22.
