Robert C. "Bob" Bossley

Robert C. (Bob) Bossley, age 95, of Saybrook, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 21, 2020. He was born May 25, 1924 in Cleveland, and married Elizabeth J. Baird on August 25, 1946.
Bob graduated from Mayfield High School in 1942 where he lettered in baseball and football. As a member of America’s Greatest Generation, he volunteered to serve his country in WWII by enlisting in the U.S. Navy. He was assigned to the South Pacific Theater as a Landing Craft Tank (LCT) Quarter Master and saw action on Guadalcanal, Treasury Islands and Boughainville Island. At the end of the war he was honorably discharged and used the GI Bill to earn a Bachelors and Masters degree in Plant Pathology from The Ohio State University. For most of his career he was employed by Eli Lilly & Company’s Elanco Agricultural Products Division, retiring as District Sales Manager. After retirement Bob taught Environmental Science at the Ashtabula County Joint Vocational School and founded Ashtabula County Environmental Services (ACES), specializing in pest control.
Bob was a warrior for Christ. He was a member of Peoples Church in Geneva where he taught Sunday School, served as an Elder and directed the Outreach Ministries Program leading others to Christ. Expressing his passion for planting and growing, he enjoyed spending time in his greenhouse, orchard and vegetable garden. He loved the outdoors and anything Ohio State.
His greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his children: Beth (Clayton) Read of Kingsville, Mary Lou (Thomas) Leonard of Geneva, Martha (Philip) Banks of Jefferson, Gayle (David) Erickson of Ashtabula, James (Mary Lou) of Delaware, Joel (Gayla) of Columbus, William (Kathy) of Oakdale, CA, Rebecca Colflesh of Bellefonte, PA., Jon of Mount Vernon and more than one hundred grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Inez Bossley, his beloved wife of sixty three years, Elizabeth (Baird) and his son, Roger.
A Celebration of life Service will be Sunday, May 30, 2021 at 12:30 pm at the Saybrook Cemetery. Madison Honor Guard will present Military Honors.

bob was an excellent beekeeper. I bought many supplies from him in the early 1980s from his A.I. ROOT dealership he ran out his house. my sympathetic regards to his family.

My 3rd graders were able to see “space ? tomatoes “ growing in the classroom because Mr. Bossley generously started seeds in his greenhouse. that had been in space in the LEM that had carried science projects in space. Thank you, Bob, for education’s sake. Sincerely, Barb
