Robert Arthur Cantalamessa, age 74, of Bradenton Florida, passed away on January 7, 2023 in Lakewood Ranch, Florida. He was born on September 18, 1948 the son of Eleanor “Nehls” and Robert Louis Cantalamessa. Robert married Dianne “Loose” Cantalamessa on June 24, 1972 in Jefferson, Ohio. He was born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania and later moved to Lake County, Ohio while in elementary school. Robert loved working outside in the dirt and his occupation was excavation. He loved to bowl and bowled several 300 games as well as winning a state tournament with his team, The Blind Squirrels. He also raised rabbits and cavies and traveled with his wife and children showing them. After moving to Florida in 2009 he continued to work in the dirt by raising orchids and bromeliads. He was a member of the Sarasota Bromeliad Society and Marie Selby Botanical Gardens. He never met a stranger and made friends everywhere he went. He also loved dogs and Shelby and Krieger survive him. Robert is survived by his wife Dianne Cantalamessa, formally of Harpersfield, Ohio; his children, William (Joann) of Harpersfield, Ohio, Danielle (William) Hancock of Austinburg, Ohio, Adam of Bradenton, Florida and Gabrielle Crosby of Geneva, Ohio; his grandchildren, Haley, Carter, and Riley Hancock; Samuel, Nadia, and Angelica Crosby; Karrie Cantalamessa and Sabrina Eggleston; his brother William (Mary) of Sarasota, Florida, sister Cynthia (Anthony) Mauceri of Mentor, and Aunt Ruth Durigon of Brownsville, Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents Silvio Cantalamessa, Sylvia (Coletti) Brandi, Arthur Nehls and Margaret (Glass) Nehls. Friends will be received from 11-12:00 pm. Saturday, February 18, 2023 at Behm Family Funeral Home, 175 S. Broadway Street, Geneva, Ohio 44041. Memorial Service will follow at 12:00 pm. at the funeral home.
