Richard Lewis “Dick” Savel, age 89, of Harpersfield, passed away Thursday, February 13, 2025 at UH Geneva Medical Center. He was born December 30, 1935 in Cleveland, the son of Joseph and Elizabeth (Dragon) Savel. He married Emily Ruth Aukerman on July 8, 1961 in Geneva.

Richard served in the U.S. Army Signal Corp. He worked for True Temper and on his family farm and was a Member of the United Steel Workers. He also worked for Harpersfield Township for over 13 years as Cemetery Sexton and volunteered for 30 years on the Harpersfield Volunteer Fire Dept., where he served as Assistant Chief. He also enjoyed gardening, grilling outside, bowling, and feeding and caring for the Purple Martin birds.

He is survived by his wife, Emily; daughters, Pamela (John) Ayersman, Beth (Billy) Holland; grandson, Cyrus Tenorio. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, George Savel John Savel, Joseph Savel and Robert Savel; sisters, Mildred Fenton, Elizabeth Taylor.

Friends will be received 6-9 pm February 17, 2025 at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 175 S. Broadway, Geneva, Ohio. A Funeral Service will take place at 11 am on February 18th at the Funeral Home. Final Resting Place will be Alexander Harper Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made out to the Harpersfield Volunteer Fire Department, 5516 Cork Cold Springs Rd., Geneva, OH 44041 or Northwest Ambulance District, 1480 South Broadway, Geneva, OH 44041.
