Richard L. Stevens

Richard L. Stevens, Sr., age 82, of Madison, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2008 University Hospitals Geneva Medical Center in Geneva, Ohio.
He was born July 13, 1925 in Middlefield to Mildred (Nobel) & Foster Earl Stevens and married Hazel Doebereiner on 3/8/1948.
He formerly was a Supervisor of safety and security at Diamond Shamrock.
He was a Sergeant in the U. S. Army Infantry during World War II, serving in England and France where he was wounded and received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Medal of Honor. He was a commander of the DAV. Worked 30 years in security for Diamond Shamrock and also worked 20 years for U.S. Security of Atlanta. Worked security for Quail Hollow for several years. Spent several years in landscaping working with his friend, Bob Beall. He loved to dance with his wife at the Painesville Township Park and enjoyed golfing, fishing and bowling.
He is survived by Wife of 60 years Hazel Stevens, of Madison; Daughters, Jeanne (Sam) McCollough of Warren, PA, Karen (John) Ryel of Bay Village, Shirley Bradley of Madison; Son, Richard L. (April) Stevens of Madison;
9 Grandchildren, Stacy, Dawn, Gretchen, Angela, Julie, Wendy, Richard ?Buddy?, Shawn, Joshua;
6 Great-Grandchildren, Skylynne, Allie, Alvon, Jr., Kyleigh, Ian, Gavin;
Sisters Linda (John) Exley of AZ and Kathleen Kraegel of OH; Brother, Robert (Erma) Stevens of Newbury, OH.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Brothers, Kenneth and Lawrence Stevens; Sister, Donna Laing
Friends will be received 2-4:00 p.m. and 6-8:00 p.m., Friday, May 16, 2008, at The Behm Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, 26 River Street, Madison, Ohio.
Funeral Service will be 8:00 p.m., Friday, May 16, 2008, at the funeral home.
Graveside Service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 17, 2008 at Madison Memorial Cemetery, Arcola Road, Madison.
