Richard L. Birch, 63, was surrounded by his family when, after a long battle with lung cancer, he passed away at home on Dec. 28, 2014. He was born on April 4, 1951 to George and Myrtle (nee Cooper) Birch, and married Tammy Thompson June 18, 1988. Ric was an avid fisherman and enjoyed fishing with his friends Terry McCrudden, Paul and Lee Byler, Grandpa "Fish hook," Charlie Leighner and Canadian friends from Fancy Boots Lodge. He was a buyer and driver for Boggs Metals and Boggs Recycling for 26 years, and was known for his practical, common sense way. Additionally, his generous and giving nature will forever be remembered. Most importantly, Ric was a U.S. Army Veteran and devout conservative. He stood for doing the right thing, being a respectful citizen, and honoring the United States Constitution. Ric is survived by his wife of 26 years, Tammy; son, Blade Birch; daughter Billie Rae Birch; four grandchildren; sister, Janelyn Birch and nephew Mark (wife Tetiana and son Richard A.) Birch; father and mother-in-law, Basil and Nora Thompson; several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and their children. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, George W. Birch. Ric will be deeply missed but forever honored and remembered.
