Retta J. Brown, age 104, of Jefferson, Ohio, went home to be with her Lord September 23, 2010. She passed quietly at home surrounded by her family.
She was born September 29, 1905 in Webster County, West Virginia to Molly (Kelly) and Lloyd Anderson. She married her childhood sweetheart, Alton Brown on May 25, 1925. They were married for 78 years.
Retta was a seamstress and homemaker. She was a very talented woman who wrote poetry, and a self-taught musician, playing many instruments. She did various crafts and was an avid reader. She loved her garden and flowers.
Retta was very active in her church and was a Sunday School teacher for many years. She was very generous, always involved in the lives of her family and friends, supporting and inspiring them. Her love, as well as the lessons she taught during her life, will be her legacy to all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter, Evelyn Pollock of Jefferson, Ohio, her son, Paul (Ruth) Brown of New Eagle, PA.; Grandchildren, Kathy (Pollock) Klco of Madison, Nola Pollock of Jefferson, Danny Brown and Bill Brown of Monongahela, Pa., and Ron Brown of New Eagle, Pa.; 9 Great Grandchildren, and 11 Great-Great-Grandchildren
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Alton Brown, brother David Anderson, granddaughter Barbara Brown and Great grandson, Eddie Klco.
Friends will be received from 6 ? 8 pm on Friday, September 24, 2010, and from 10 ? 11 am on Saturday, September 25th, at The Behm Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, 175 South Broadway, Geneva, Ohio.
Funeral Service will be 11:00 am on Saturday, September 25, 2010, at the funeral home with the Rev. Jerry Bentley of First Baptist Church of Jefferson, officiating.
Final Resting Place will be at Perry Cemetery in Perry.
