Reed Lewis Vickerman, age 90, of Madison, passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 20, 1935 in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of John and Edith (Lewis) Vickerman. He married Mary Lou Horner on May 17, 1958 in Bellevue PA.

Reed was a graduate of Colgate University and then went on to serve in the Air Force National Guard. He owned and operated, Suburban Paving Company in Pittsburgh, PA. Reed enjoyed traveling with his family, antique cars, boats, model trains, and the years spent living on Lake Erie during his retirement.
Honesty, integrity and humility were traits he lived by each day and passed on to his children and grandchildren. He was an active member of the Greenstone UMC, in Pittsburgh and Chapel UMC, in Madison.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Lou; daughter, Linda (Joseph ) Miller; son, Reed (Jennifer) Vickerman Jr.; daughter, Laura (Daniel) Philpot; 6 grandchildren, Matthew (Melissa) Miller, Eric (Trista) Miller, Austin (Erica) Philpot, Reed Vickerman III, Channelle (Daniel) Berthaume, Shawna (Andrew) Kirk; 4 great-grandsons, Asher and Ryder Berthaume, Cash and Bodhi Kirk.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John Vickerman III and sister, Sally Pearson.

Services will be held at a later date. Memorial Contributions may be made in Reed’s name to the Hospice of the Western Reserve, for their great care and kindness at PO Box 72101, Cleveland, OH 44192; Greenstone UMC, 939 California Ave. Avalon PA 15202 or Chapel UMC, 2019 Hubbard Rd. Madison, OH 44057.

  2. I have absolutely no doubt my great uncle Reed has been blessed with everlasting life in Heaven. He was a noble man and humble before the Lord. God Bless Mary Lou for her devotion to her husband over their 67 years of marriage.
