Raymond J Kalman
July 20, 1937 ~ March 10, 2013
Raymond J. Kalman, age 75, of Footville, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2013 at UH Geneva Medical Center. He was born July 20, 1937 in Cleveland, OH to Rosanna (Medvetz) & Julius Carl Kalman. He married the love of his life, Margaret Mary McAllister, on August 31, 1957 in Cleveland. Ray was a proud, retired U.S. Navy veteran; he served as an air traffic controller on the USS Enterprise during the Vietnam War. After his Navy service, Ray worked for the Illuminating Company where he was known to all his friends as "Radar". Ray was a graduate of Benedictine High School in Cleveland Ohio, and was an avid collector and enjoyed attending local auctions. He also spent many hours building computers, a hobby he enjoyed right up to the end of his life. However, his greatest joy was spending time with his family: his wife and children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved all of them very much and was so proud of everything they have accomplished in their lives. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Kalman of Footville; son David A. Kalman of Ft. Worth, TX; daughter, Loretta (Thomas, Jr.) Jessup of Geneva; grandchildren Paul (Rachel) Jessup, Thomas III (Regina) Jessup, Kimberly (Matthew) Wasylyk and Pamela Jessup; great-grandchildren Thomas Jessup IV, Alethea Jessup, Ashlyn Jessup, Liam Jessup, Elannah Jessup, Matthew Tyler Jessup & Matthew James Wasylyk and sister, Dorothy Stovering of Cleveland. He was preceded in death by his parents. There will be a memorial mass at St. Patrick's Church in Thompson, Ohio on Saturday, March 23 at 11:30 a.m. All family and friends of Ray are welcome to attend. Arrangements are being handled by The Behm Family Funeral Homes, 175 S. Broadway, Geneva, OH 44041.
