Ray William “Skip” Shears, age 63 of Madison, passed away at his home on November 27, 2024. Born in Painesville on October 4, 1961 he was the son of the late William Ray Shears and Magdalena “Lee” (Dunmann) Shears.
Skip was a lifelong resident of Madison and played baseball during his years at Madison High School. His favorite hobbies included playing softball, golfing, watching the Cleveland Browns and Indians (Guardians), playing billiards, darts, and boating. He loved music, singing karaoke, and dancing. He was a skilled carpenter who loved building things and spent many years working in construction. Skip worked for Wonder Bread for over twenty years and later as a manager for Dollar General, before he retired.
He is survived by his daughters, Julie (Matthew) Calderon and Michelle (Jason) Lohr; grandchildren, Emily and Alexander Calderon, Chloe and Carlee Lohr; siblings Jeane Shears Burgwin, Mark (Elizabeth) Shears, Susan Shears Mills. Nephew Christopher (Emily) Shears; Nieces Katherine (Richard) Hodgson, and Madison (Jimmy) Johnson; great nephews and nieces, Logan Hodgson, Ethan Shears, Lucas Johnson, Bria Shears, Declan Hodgson, Kellan Hodgson and Lindsay Johnson. Skip was preceded in death by his parents.
