Peter George Newman

Peter George Newman, 89, of Madison, passed away peacefully in his home on January 11, 2020. He was born in Little Falls, Minnesota on July 14, 1930 the son of Sylvester and Emma (Knutzen) Newman. Peter served in the military as a Master Sergeant and cook, retiring after 20 years serving his country in the United States Army. He was a hard worker and good provider for his family. Peter enjoyed cooking, restoring Volkswagens, and caring for horses which he kept for his children. His handiwork can be seen in the wooden benches along Main St. He was also a member of the American Legion. He is survived by his loving children, Joseph (Linda) Newman, Nancy Newman, Bruce (Sue) Newman, Sandra (Bruce) Pastor, and Michael Newman; 15 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his former wife and loving friend, Mary K. (Woods) Newman; parents; and son, Peter. A private family graveside service will be held at Hambden Cemetery.
