Paul Richard Hiers, Sr., age 82, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 4, 2022, surrounded by his children. Paul was born on July 12, 1939, in Huntington, Indiana, the first son of the late Richard E. and Edna Mae (Freeman) Hiers. On July 3, 1959, he married Joy Cramer in St. Joseph, Michigan, and remained her devoted husband and friend until her passing last August. During his long career, Paul was a grocery store clerk, a steelworker, a salesperson, a manager, and an entrepreneur. In 1993, he founded Hiers Tax Service, where he worked until he sold the business and retired in 2016. His many hobbies included woodworking, metalworking, photography, billiards, fishing, hunting, and golf. He loved to read, watch football, lunch with friends, and laugh. Paul is survived by his children, Lori (Christopher) DeCamillo, Paul (Sheila Santiago) Hiers, Jr., Amy Hiers, and Wesley (Katie Wooten) Hiers; grandchildren, Christopher (Emily) DeCamillo, Jr., Sara DeCamillo, and Kyle Hiers; and great grandchildren, Sophia Pelayo and Andrew DeCamillo. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joy; daughter, Polly; his parents; brothers, David and Dean; and sister, Carol. Family and friends will be received from 2 p.m.- 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 175 South Broadway in Geneva. A Memorial Service will immediately follow at 4 p.m. The family wishes to thank the staff at both the Geneva Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation and Hospice of the Western Reserve for taking such good care of their parents. Any flowers received will be donated to the Geneva Center after the service. The family requests that any donations be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve (www.hospicewr.org).
