Patti J. Sperry, age 76, of Tappan Oval, Madison, Ohio, died early Tuesday morning, December 11, 2018, at Select Specialty Hospital Cleveland Fairhill. She was born March 9, 1942, in Jefferson, the daughter of Robert B. and Barbara M. (Rhodes) Shore and had lived in northeast Ohio most of her life. She was a 1960 graduate of Jefferson Area High School where she was a cheerleader, homecoming queen and in an a cappella singing group. She was a 1964 graduate of Kent State University where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Education degree. She met her husband, Steven L. Sperry, while at Kent State University. They were married on August 29, 1964, in Jefferson, Ohio. She taught elementary school before starting her family, and did substitute teaching after her children were older. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and aunt, always putting the needs of others before her own. She loved gardening, singing, cooking, baking, boating, water skiing, bowling, playing cards and spending time with family. She is survived by two children, Lisa A. Weimer (Grant) of Highland Heights and Mark S. Sperry of Madison; two grandchildren, Julia M. Weimer and Alexandra E. Weimer; two brothers, Ronald J. (Norma Jo) Shore of Annandale, Va. and James E. (Judy) Shore of Memphis, Tenn.; step-brother William H. (Brenda) Sanger of Conneaut; and four nieces Carrie, Jennifer, Lindsay, Brandy, and one nephew Joseph and their families. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Steven L. Sperry, her mother-in-law and father- in-law Matilde and Mark Sperry and her father’s second wife Evelyn Sanger Shore. Private services for the family will be held in Florida for the scattering of both her and her husband’s cremains.
