Nettie Grace Fike
April 5, 1929 ~ August 6, 2022
Nettie Grace Fike (nee: Zearfoss), 93 of Madison died on Saturday, August 6th surrounded by her family. She was born on April 5th 1929 in Listie, PA, the daughter of Harvey and Margaret (Maggie) Zearfoss. Married to her loving husband Robert (who preceded her in death) of Somerset, PA on July 31, 1948, they moved to Painesville, Ohio in 1950 and eventually to Madison in 1956.
Nettie was a loving and devoted wife, and mother who was truly the definition of mother and grandmother. Any visitors to her home never left without a meal, cookies or candy. Every child in the neighborhood called her grandma. She enjoyed tending her garden, feeding the birds, raccoons and squirrels who all gathered around the birdfeeder, and quiet times on her swing with Bob. Most important to her was her love of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of the Madison Church of Christ, now the New Day Christian Church in Madison for over 50 years and loved to listen to gospel music. For over 20 years she was an active member of the “Lakeside Rebekahs” at the Grand River Lodge Madison, serving in numerous positions as well as the distinguished position of Vice Grand Master. She traveled with Robert across the country in their motor home enjoying Bob’s hobby of racing midget racers and showing his antique automobiles at antique automobile shows. Nettie also worked as a cafeteria worker in the Madison School systems for several years.
She is survived by her two sons Roger (Maggie) and Richard (Linda) both of Madison, four grandchildren, Matt Fike of Painesville, Leah (Paul) Turner of Madison, Richard Jr. (Mary), of Columbus OH, and Sara (Kitt) Lashley of Madison; and five great grandchildren, Lydia and Elizabeth Turner and Luke, Emma and John Lashley all of Madison. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Armenta Metzgar, Mary Shelton, Janet Herrell, and her step son Phillip "Buddy" Fike.
Friends will be received from 10 am to 12 noon on Saturday, August 13, at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street in Madison Village, followed by a short service at 12 noon at the funeral home. Burial will be at Fairview Memorial Park. Online obituary @ behmfuneral.com
