Mr. William A. Soukup

William Soukup age 79 a resident of Madison, Ohio, passed away, Monday, March 12, 2007 at his home.
Born in Cleveland on April 30, 1927 to Mimi (Anderson) & Arthur Soukup
Memorial Service will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, March 17, 2007 at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street, Madison, Ohio. Father Luigi Miola will be officiating.
Bill was a resident of Chesterland, Ohio for some 72 years before moving to Madison in 1999. During those years in Chesterland, he was a charter member of the Kiwanis Club, serving as both Vice ?President and Interim President. He did volunteer work for the Boy Scouts and Recreation Council; helped move the High School and start the Kindergarten classes in the old bowling alley. He also managed teams in Little League for 11 years.
He was a member of the Carpenter?s Union for some 56 years, and was a General Superintendent on many major jobs in the Cleveland area. They included the Figgie complex in Willoughby, Shaker Heights Police and Court House, Punderson Lake?s 31 rooms on the Manor House, as well as the 26 cottages, swimming pool, and ski lodge. In addition, many schools, churches and multi-million dollar homes were built with his supervision before his retirement in 1986.
His retirement was spent dealing with his collection of antiques, selling at Christie?s in New York, Garth?s in Delaware, Ohio, as well as Chicago, Burbank, and DiFina?s in Austinburg. Many people have traveled to his home to buy antiques, including Peter Marshal, John Davidson, and Joan Rivers. Bill was well known in the world of antiques, and has given many talks on the subject, as well as advice to authors.
Mr. Soukup is survived by his wife, Joan whom he married in October of 2001, his daughter, Joyce and sons, Jim (Mary), Bill (Jo) and Gary (Linda), as well as many grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. His first wife, Peggy, is deceased.
Bill got his wish, and died as an antique??????????!
Friends will be received 1-2:00 pm, Saturday, March 17, 2007 at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street, Madison, Ohio.
