Miriam G. Wetzel

Miriam G. Wetzel , 98 of Brooksville, Florida, passed away at Spring Oaks Assisted living on July 15, 2018. Miriam was born October 14, 1919 in Mentor, Ohio. She worked at Hawleys Florist in Painesville for several years. Miriam was originally hired by Lake County National Bank now Chase Bank.She was the senior bookkeeper and retired after 18 years of service. After retirement from the bank, she enjoyed traveling to the west coast. Miriam loved the beach. She would walk along the seashore and gather colored sea glass she found in the sand and along the water. She would put the glass in colored bottles and place them along her window sill. During her travels Miriam would collect bells from different states or anywhere significant along the way. Miriam loved her dogs. Shelly a Cocker Spaniel,and Sandy a yellow lab. Her relaxing time was cutting her grass and doing yard work. She also loved reading and watching her tv show Bonanza and any Westerns. Wheel of Fortune was another favorite. She always enjoyed the challenge of solving the puzzle and was quick to have the answer. Miriam ( Auntie Mir ) was all about her family. A very Important part of our lives. After family get togethers when she would leave, she would always turn and say goodbye with a wave of her hand and say Happy day! She is survived by her sister in law Janet Wetzel of Florida ,nieces JoAnn (Don) Thompson, Jill Olson (Mike Patterson), Judi (Dan) Wayner, beloved great-nieces and nephews , and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother Gordon, nephew Randy Olson, and parents George and Estelle Wetzel. Final resting place will be at Mentor cemetery.
