Mary E. Platz, age 81, of Madison, passed away Friday, September 13, 2024 at UH of Geneva. She was born March 10, 1943 in Perth, Australia, the daughter of Edmund Emiel Nass and Jessie Coppin. She married Phillip W. Platz on a sunny day in California.
Mary worked at Hubbell Industrial Controls for 40 plus years as a buyer, at Champion Garden Center in Perry, Marut and Sons Excavating, and finished out her career at Morse Van Lines for 20 years, retiring in 2021. Mary was a beautiful woman with a heart of gold, who loved her family dearly. She enjoyed reading, cooking, baking and watching the game show channel, the Olympics and figure skating. She also had a love for plays and musicals, and enjoyed going to Broadway series plays at Cleveland Playhouse Square.
She is survived by children, Patricia L. (Randy) Merkosky, Deborah L. Sturtevant, Phillip E. (Christine) Platz; grandchildren, Michael (Peggy) DeLauer, Tiffany Kozak, Nicholas (Nicolle) Sturtevant, Kyle (Liz) Merkosky, Alec (Katie) Platz, Bailey Platz, Cullen Platz, Jude Platz, Sloan Platz, Nash Platz, Esme Platz, Paxton Platz, Crosby Platz; great-grandchildren, Luke Merkosky, Emily Sturtevant, Raylan DeLauer, Bentley Merkosky, Zane Palmer; brother, John (Suzanne) Nass; nephew, Jason (Rowan) Nass; neice, Staysie (Matt) Chapman. She also leaves behind her best buddy, faithful friend, and beloved dog, Peaches.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip; parents; brother, Edmund Nass.
Friends will be received 5-8pm, Thursday, September 19, 2024 at Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St., Madison. A funeral service will be held at 11am, Friday, September 20, 2024 at North Star Church, 3050 Antioch Road, Perry, Ohio, and officiated by Pastor Nick Chesnes. Final Resting Place will be North Madison Cemetery.
