April 3, 1939 ~ February 25, 2025

Mary Anne Nelson, age 85, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2025.
She was the daughter of Edwin and Lucille Lorentzen and grew up in Worcester, MA. She began work as a teacher in Chestnut Hill, MA after graduation and moved to Providence, RI to work at the Mary C Wheeler School. After her marriage to Donald Nelson, they moved to Columbus, OH where she worked with special needs children. They then moved to Temple, TX where she resided until moving in 2023 to Concord OH to be near her youngest stepdaughter. Longtime owner of the Paper Corner shop and an avid, experienced quilter, she participated in the Temple Bible Church and enjoyed traveling the world with Don.

Mary Anne believed in finding the magic in life and kept her childlike joy in crafts and projects. There was always a stray cat to be taken in and cared for, a party to throw or attend, a new needlework project to start. Things beyond family, quilters, and friends that made her happy include Christmas, Mickey Mouse, Disney movies (her favorite was Cinderella), flowers and her garden.

Mary Anne will join her husband, parents and brother Buzz in eternal rest. She is survived by her stepdaughters, Holly, Heather and Heidi, and leaves 5 step grandchildren as well as her beloved cousin Bev.
She was very well cared for and loved by many in her community. We would like to thank the staff at Vista Springs and the Hospice of the Western Reserve for their kind and loving attention to her in her final years.

  1. It was my pleasure to know Maryann. She had a beautiful spirit the day I met her at Vista Springs. I loved interacting with her when we did activities. She was smart, quick whitted and had a great since of humor. I will miss her dearly 😢.
