Martha A. Cole

Martha A. Cole (Shimek), age 83, of Madison, OH, passed away the morning of Saturday, April 16, 2016, after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She was born in Geneva, OH March 2, 1933 to Mary (Hauser) and John Shimek. Martha was a proud mother, grandmother, and great grandma who will be dearly missed. Like her mother before her, Martha had a green thumb and groomed a full and vibrant garden. She loved learning and reading, and said, "if I don't learn one thing new every day, it's a wasted day." Martha was a great cook and baked like nobody else. She was always very involved in church and nurtured her family with lessons and love. Martha is survived by her children, Stanley T. (Deborah) Cole, Lawrence A. (Linda) Cole, Christle A. (John) Bunner, Mark A. (Stacy) Cole, Colleen M. Long; 17 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; brothers, Richard Shimek, Paul (Janet) Shimek; sister, Marie Shimek; and several loved nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her beloved son, Daniel E. Cole; parents, brothers, John Shimek, James Shimek, and Albert Lawrence Shimek. A celebration graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday April 21, 2016 at Madison Memorial Cemetery on Arcola Rd. Martha's grandson Pastor Nate Bunner from Indian Creek Baptist Church of Georgia will celebrate her service.
