Marian Dempsey Russell

Marian Dempsey Russell, 96, of Madison passed away peacefully Saturday, February 18, 2017. She was born February 2, 1921 in Youngstown, Ohio the daughter of the late, Joseph and Bessie (Reninger) Cutler. Marian was a 1939 graduate of Youngstown South High School, and then went on to graduate from Wittenberg College with a Bachelor's of Science Degree. Marian worked as a dietician at various local hospitals over the years; she began her career at City Hospital in Meadville, and then also worked at NEO Hospital, Geneva Memorial Hospital and Brown Memorial Hospital. She was a faithful member of Chapel Church in Madison. She was also a member of the Madison Chorale, Madison Roundtable Study Group, Business Professional Women in Geneva and Gamma Phi Beta Sorority at Wittenberg. She enjoyed reading, singing, golfing, knitting, and traveling, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. Mrs. Russell is survived by her son, Robert (Lori) Dempsey of Hiram, OH; daughters, Sue (John) Lefler of Fairport Harbor, and Marnie (Bob) Fails of Madison; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and six nieces. She was preceded in death by her son, Rick Dempsey; first husband, Robert Dempsey; second husband, J.J. Russell; and four brothers. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at 11 AM at Chapel United Methodist Church, 2019 Hubbard Rd., Madison, Ohio 44057. Burial will follow at Madison Memorial Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Monday, February 20, 2017 from 5-8 PM at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St., Madison, Ohio 44057, and on Tuesday from 10 AM until the time of service at 11.
