Marguerite Hayner

marguerite hayner

April 2, 1939 ~ April 21, 2017

Marguerite Hayner, age 78, passed away Friday, April 21, 2017 at her home in Dorset with her family by her side. She was born April 2, 1939 in Dilltown, PA to the late Benjamin and Geraldine Mack. Marguerite graduated from United High School in Indiana, PA before visiting her sister in the Cleveland area where she met and fell in love with her late husband, Richard A. Hayner. Together, they raised a large family with Marguerite as a devoted and nurturing mother to seven children. She also worked outside the home, retiring from Social Services in Cleveland and, later, from Ashtabula County Community Action where she oversaw the Meals-On-Wheels program out of the Jefferson location. Marguerite was truly passionate about her work but also enjoyed spending time outdoors, feeding the fish, hunting bargains at yard sales, caring for her pets, and, of course, being a grandmother and beloved matriarch to all of her loved ones. She will be deeply missed by her children, Phyllis (Nicholas) Dunlap of Geneva, Kathy (David Frye) Agosti of Cleveland, Alvin (Melissa) Hayner of Cleveland, Shirley (Mark) Wright of Ocean Springs, MS, William (Nicole) Hayner of Kingsville, Donald Hayner of Cleveland, Peggy (James) Urbach of Dorset; sister, Hazel Ressler of Cherry Valley; brothers, Benjamin (Linda) Mack and Donald (Jean) Mack of Homer City, PA; sister-in-law, Roxanne Mack of Penn Run, PA; 18 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and relatives. In addition to her parents and husband, Marguerite was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Harry Agosti; granddaughter, Diana Hayner; and brother, Gerald Mack. Friends will be received 4-7 PM on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at The Behm Family Funeral Home, 175 S. Broadway, Geneva, OH 44041 where a funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM.
