Louis J. Mavko, age 94, of Dublin, OH, longtime resident of Madison, died Sunday, October 28, 2018 at The Dublin Retirement Village. He was born June 4, 1924 in Cleveland, Ohio to Matthew and Louise Mavko. Lou married Josephine Lenart on August 23, 1947 in Orwell, OH. He was a veteran of World War II, owned a tavern in Rock Creek, Ohio with Josephine after the war, worked as a brick mason and finally was a field supervisor for Houston Associates, Architects in Willoughby, Ohio. He retired in the late 1990’s. His wife Jo was always at his side and was the love of his life. Lou loved spending his time tending his garden and working in the yard of their Madison home of 65 years. He dedicated his life to family and friends and could always be counted on to provide a helping hand or fix something that didn’t work quite right. Lou was known by his grandchildren as “Papa Tractor” because of the many tractor rides he gave them when they were growing up. Lou is survived by his sister Elsie Glavac, his son, Lou (Kay) Mavko of Dublin, OH and daughter Jean (Curt) Reph of Plain City, OH; 4 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Lou was preceded in death by his loving wife of 71 years, Josephine, on October 19, 2018, and his brother Ed. Friends will be received Sunday, November 4, 2018 from 4 to 6 pm at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St. Madison, OH. Visitation will also be Monday, November 5, 2018 from 10 to 11a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 2846 Hubbard Rd. Madison, OH. A funeral Mass will immediately follow visitation at 11:00 a.m. in the church with Fr. Sean Donnelly as celebrant. Final resting place will be North Madison Cemetery, where American Legion #112 will present Military Honors.
