Lorna L. Hudgens, age 89, of Oberlin and formerly of Madison, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2012. Born November 24, 1922 in Cleveland to Bertha A. (Sivon) & Thomas LaWand, she married Edward Hudgens in Painesville, OH on June 1, 1948. She was a homemaker, children's social worker in Lake County and operated Hudgens Haven Bed & Breakfast in Edmonds, WA. Mrs. Hudgens was a graduate of Kent State University and attended Case Western Reserve University. She was a former member of the Madison Board of Education, a charter member of the Madison Fine Arts Association, a former member of the Edmonds, WA Chamber of Commerce and served as PTA president in Madison, OH. Lorna was a member of Maplewood Presbyterian Church in Edmonds, WA and attended Heritage Presbyterian Church of Amherst. She is survived by her husband, Edward of Oberlin; daughters, Blythe (Tom) Strong of Tucson, AZ, Melody Werner of St. Paul, MN & Heather (Vince) Valdez of Austin, TX ; son-in-law, Herb Werner of Bay Village, OH; granddaughters, Ellen Tzeutschler & Laura Carroll; great-grandson, Timothy Tzeutschler. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Thomas and sister, Velma. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM, Friday, January 13, 2012, at Kendal of Oberlin, 600 Kendal Ave., Oberlin, OH 44074 with a reception to follow. Final resting place will be Fairview Cemetery in Madison, Ohio. Contributions may be made to Lake Humane Society, 7564 Tyler Blvd., Bldg.
