June 9, 1927 ~ October 1, 2008
LLOYD GARRISON AVERILL, JR., age 81 of League City, TX, passed away 10/1/08 in Texas. Lloyd was born June 9, 1927 in Perry, OH, the son of Lloyd and Dorothy Hull Averill. He lived many years in the Perry area before moving to Texas. He was a retired chemical operator. It would be an understatement to say that Lloyd loved travel. He saw a lot of the world as a member of the Merchant Marines in WWII. Later in life his travels were as diverse as flying prize cows to Cuba, sailing the Great Lakes on freighters and driving to the Arctic Circle with his truck and camper. Yes, Lloyd loved to travel. He will also be remembered for his tall tales and his wonderful smile.
Lloyd is survived by his sons Gerald Averill and wife, Sarah of Lakeway, TX and Grant Averill and wife, Carol of Louisville KY; 2 grandchildren, Jacob Martin Averill and Sierra Laurel Averill; 1 step-grandchild, Daniel Hall; and an extraordinary circle of friends and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Mary Williams, his wife of 40 years Shirley Jacobs Averill, his sons Garrison and Gregory Averill, his brother, Sterling Averill and sister, Ruth Anderson and favorite companion his dog, Pansey
