Linda Sprague Green, 92, of Madison, passed away Wednesday July 11, 2018, at her home. She was born Nov. 23, 1925, in Geneva, to Estelle (McCurdy) and Byron Sprague and married Joseph R. Green on Jan. 30, 1949. Linda was a 1943 graduate of Spencer High School in Geneva and was a member of Madison Park United Methodist Church. Linda attended Ashland College and Ohio University before graduating from Lake Erie College with a bachelor's degree in elementary education. She worked in the Madison School District for many years before retiring in 1980. After retiring she was very active in many groups including the Sweet Adelines, Messiah Choir, Madison Historical Society, Mayflower Lady, Colonial Dame and Daughter of the American Revolution. She also sang and was involved in the bell choir at the First Baptist Church in Madison. Linda loved to read and owned thousands of books. She was also interested in genealogy and wrote and published a book about her family and 55 other families. Linda also loved gardening and was a very talented artist. Linda was married to her best friend and lifelong partner for the 64 years before he passed away in 2013. They resided on Green Farm and raised a beautiful family that included five children, 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Linda loved to spend time with her family and held many Sunday lunches and holiday parties for her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Judith Weber of Perry, Sharon (Rick) Daugherty of Madison, Patricia (Rob) Wyant of Perry and Joseph Green of Madison; daughter-in-law, Deborah Pivonka-Green of Madison; grandchildren, Richard Daugherty of Florida, Stacy (Steve) Fening of Brecksville, Katrina and Erin Green of Geneva, Linda Mooney of Perry, Bob (Michelle) Wyant of Thompson, Debra (Aaron) Schwartz of Leroy, Tiffany and Jesse Green of Madison, Natalie (Dan) Sisler of Madison and Jacob Green of Cincinnati; and great-grandchildren, Cecelia Green, Anthony and Tatum Sedillo, Heidi and Bobby Wyant, Carly and Kellan Schwartz, Abigail and Andrew Fening. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents; sisters, Alice Spade, Helen Vrnak and Frances Jerman; brother, Stanley Sprague; son-in-law, Lawrence Weber; and son, Martin Green. Friends will be received from 2 to 6 on Sunday, July 15, 2018 at The Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St., Madison. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 16, 2018 at the funeral home. The family will receive friends for one half hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Pastor Donna Maruschak of Madison Park United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be at Middle Ridge Cemetery in Madison.
